About Dylan Collins
The Story
About
Stanley Kowalski and Iago, Willy Wonka and the Cat in the Hat: Dylan Collins has played them all, on stages from the Hudson Valley to San Antonio and on camera in the Texas Hill Country.

Dylan Collins is an actor whose work spans classical drama, musical theatre, comedy, film, and family productions. His stage life began on Hudson Valley stages, Tom Sawyer in 1982 and Matt in The Fantasticks in 1984, grew through Claude in Hair at SUNY New Paltz, and reached a Tennessee Williams pair at the San Pedro Playhouse: Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire and Jim O’Connor in The Glass Menagerie. For Shakespeare in the Park, he played Iago in Othello and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew.
At Magik Theatre, he played the title roles in Pecos Bill, The Cat in the Hat, and Willy Wonka, then took on three roles in a single evening of Treasure Island. At the Woodlawn Theatre, he played Luis Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman and Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Show, and he carried The Santaland Diaries alone.
For The Cat in the Hat, Dylan looked to the original illustrations for the character’s movement and posture. His work is grounded in text, rhythm, physical detail, and the exchange between performers.
On camera, he appears in the Cacy Brothers westerns Pedernales Pass, a Hill Country short told in German and Spanish, and Adios Lobo, a Grindhouse contest trailer, and in a 2020 virtual production with other Magik veterans.
Ask Dylan what a theater runs on and the answer is short: people, stuff, and love.
“What I really enjoy is we’re bringing the book to life.”
Production Experience
Stage Work on Both Sides of the Curtain
Dylan works behind the show as much as in it: audio, lighting, stage operations, and digital audio systems. When Magik carried The Cat in the Hat to the Empire Theatre in 2015, he had helped build the set he was starring on, and he told the Express-News what a house of two thousand delighted children sounds like. He builds the room and then he fills it.
